Christian Religion and Jesus Christ
Every year Christmas is celebrated on 25 December that marks and honors the birth of Jesus Christ. Although December 25 is not believed to be the date of birth of Jesus Christ but it may have been chosen to coincide with winter solstice. It is thought that the date has been set to correspond with the Pagan holidays that were celebrated in the olden days in Rome during winter solstice. Church priests took a decision to coincide Christmas celebration to spread its popularity.

Due to gift-giving and many other aspects, Christmas is celebrated all around the world by the Christians as well as non-Christians. However, for majority of the Christians, Christmas festivities focus primarily on the religious events such as midnight mass, nativity scene and church services associated with Christmas and Jesus Christ. Religious activities of Christmas include attending early morning mass, church services and sermons, singing Christmas carols and doing charitable services like distributing food to the poor and hungry people at church, among others.
